A Secure Place to Bear Much Fruit (Jn 15:5)
A Secure Place to Bear Much Fruit (Jn 15:5)
God began with a garden – The Garden of Eden. The Hebrew word for "garden" literally means a fenced in, protected and safe place. The name "Eden" implies pleasurable, delightful and fruitful. God placed Adam and Eve in a place that was secure and fruitful. Nestled in His garden was the Tree of Life, a type of Jesus Christ.
They were driven from the garden due to their sin, but multiple Old Testament prophecies pointed to the people of God being restored to "garden-like" living.
Jesus came to restore us to God's garden. He is the Vine (tree), we are His branches (where fruit grows), and Father God is the Vinedresser (gardener). Along with Jesus Christ, we are "God's Garden".
In this fast-paced world that we live in many people are broken-hearted and beaten-down, weary and discouraged even to the place of hopelessness. There are people lonely and frustrated, looking for meaning and purpose in life. They need to be "saved" ... to be made whole in their spirits, minds, wills, emotions and bodies. They need a refuge, a secure place to find peace and refreshing... a secure place to bear much fruit!
